4. The balmy weather

Port Douglas has warm, tropical weather all year round.  This means guests can swim and enjoy the glorious sunshine and outdoors at any time of the year. There are two seasons in Cairns, the tropical summer and the tropical winter. The tropical summer is between the months December to April.  It is also known as the wet or green season.  Generally, Port Douglas has less tourists during this season so it is a great time to visit and avoid the rush!  Summer is a spectacular time of year in Port Douglas, with warm sunny days and afternoon thunderstorms. The tropical winter or dry season is between the months May to November.  This is typically a busier time of year in Port Douglas with alot more visitors to the region. There is less rain and less humidity during winter, but the climate is still warm enough to enjoy the outdoors!

The place where the reef meets the rainforest, Port Douglas is a beautifully tropical and relaxed holiday destination on a 200km stretch of Coral Sea coastline, just 67km north of Cairns.  There is so much natural beauty in Port Douglas, it is hard not to fall in love with the place and never want to leave. There is beauty to behold in every direction.  Four Mile beach is a broad strip of palm-fringed, white sand. In the distance there are many majestic looking mountains, stunning freshwater creeks and lush rainforest.

6. Great tours, sites and local attractions

Port Douglas is renowned for its World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef  and the incredible nearby Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation. Visitors that are feeling adventurous, can hop on a Great Barrier Reef cruise or jump on a 4WD safari and explore the rainforest coast. A trip to Port Douglas isn't complete until you've taken a trip to the Great Barrier Reef!
