• The Courthouse Hotel, Port Douglas

(Located on the corner of Macrossan and Wharf Street - overlooking Anzac Park and the harbour).

This pub is known locally as “The Courty”.  This is the oldest and most iconic pub in Port Douglas and in Australia.

It is a magnificent traditional heritage Queenslander with open verandas and large seating areas. 

It overlooks the scenic Anzac Park where the fireworks display on New Year’s Eve will be set.

On New Year’s Eve the Courthouse will be full of merry makers and it’s a great place to soak up the celebration vibe.

The Central was built in 1878 and is one of the oldest pubs in Port Douglas. 

It is fittingly called The Central due to its location.  

She’s a traditional Queenslander with timber beams and decks, after being rebuilt in 1911 due to a cyclone.

This year, there will be two bands playing, one at the front and one at the Garden Bar at the back of the pub.

This vast covered area is a great place to soak up the New Year Eve’s vibe with other revellers.

Watergate Bar has a late 2.00am licence and will be serving drinks in this tropical chique bar/restaurant – try their Elderflower Collins, or their Espresso Martinis and bring in 2019 in in their lounge seating and a refined vibe.
 

This year Watergate Bar & Restaurant will be offering a 6 course set menu with a glass of corte giara prosecco on arrival.

Doors will open at 6:00pm, with dinner served at 7:00pm.  

There will only be the one sitting on the night. The PORK BELLY - twice cooked with a tiger prawn wonton and a chilli macadamia sambal is just one of the tastes on the menu that is a must try!

New Year’s Things to See Things to Do in Port Douglas

Whilst you are in Port Douglas celebrating Christmas and New Years, why not check out what Port Douglas has to offer for entertainment.  Before or once you recover from your New Year Day’s late night shenanigans and celebrations you can saunter down the iconic white sands of Four Mile Beach and look out to the aquamarine sea.  New Year’s shop sales will abound in Port Douglas so snapping up a bargain that you will cherish as a souvenir or want to wear for some special occasion is worth sticking around for. Touring whilst you are visiting Port Douglas is highly advisable!

Enjoy a day of fun and discovery on the Great Barrier Reef, or if you prefer a half a day, jump on a high speed jet boat that will whizz you to the outer reef in no time and without sea sickness.  Whether for half a day or a full day the swimming in this picture postcard beauty of the Great Barrier Reef is what dreams are made of.  If you would like to have a yacht tour then you can visit the stunning Low Isles, just hang back and relax whilst the wind blows the sails and the waves break on the bow.  The snorkelling off this uninhabited natural coral cay island is amazing. You might even have a swim with one of the many turtles that frequent the Low Isles and of course it is turtle nesting season at this time of year so there will be plenty about.
