Port Douglas Carnivale 2016
This year is set to have an additional elegance and flair to highlight the lifestyle of Port Douglas.
2016 Port Douglas Carnivale will feature the festival favourites plus some exciting new events including the Wonderland Spiegeltent featuring comedy legend Jimeoin, trio The Kransky Sisters, caberate circus spectacular Limbo, and blues artists Lloyd Spiegel and Big Daddy Wilson starting from the 12th May through to the 22nd May!
Wednesday 18th May
- 2016 Port Douglas Golf Challenge - Wed 11am at Mirage Country Club, Thursday 12:30 at Palmer Sea Reef
Friday 20th May
- Container Art Park 10am -9pm
- Paradise on a Plate (Longest Lunch) 11:30am - 3pm
- Carnivale "Wonders of the Tropics" Street Parade from 5pm
Friday 20th May will mark the offical start of Carnivale with a long lunch dining experience "Paradise on a Plate" with tropical outdoor dining under the palms next to Sugar Wharf.
The highlight for many visitors and locals is the Friday night "Carnivale Wonders of the Tropics Street Parade" when Macrossan Street comes alive with street performers, stilt walkers and festive floats from local community groups.

Saturday 21st May is the "Family Beach Day Party" where friends and families enjoy a festive day on the stunning Four Mile Beach - enjoy the Kite Festival with giant kites take to the sky, or try your best in the sand at the Sandcastle and Sculpting Competition! Family Entertainment will be endless with performances from Bosco and Honey (Australia's Got Talent), giant puppets, beach volleyball, beach cricket, kids' activites and market stalls.
In the evening enjoy dancing under the stars at the inagural "Port On A Fork" - Food, Music & Wine Festival showcasing Port Douglas' tropical cuisine and lifestyle. Enjoy the festivities and be entertained by legendary singer and saxophonist Joe Camilleri & Black Sorrows as you dance the night away.
During the Carnival ensure to check out "The Wonder of the Tropics Container Art in the Park" exhibit from 20-22 May showcasing renowned and local artists art work in a trendy industrial shipping container gallery space. You will be able to view a range of visual art mediums and even able to purchase art during the Festival.
Sunday 22nd May
- Fishermen's Village Seafood Music Festival from 11am
Sunday 22nd May is set to finish the Carnival off in typical Port Douglas style - with fresh seafood and live music at the "Port Douglas Fisherman's Village Seafood & Music Festival". Four live FREE music stages will be set up along the waterfront starting from the Reef Marina - featuring Desert Blues, Dream Boogie and more... Enjoy fresh prawns, barramundi and oysters cooked fresh off the trawler as you pull up a picnic blanket and enjoy the entertainment!
In the evening relax at Rex Smeal Park and take in the sounds and smells of the tropics - as you watch the sun set on the 22nd Port Douglas Carnivale.
