The partnership of Tropical Journeys & James Cook University through the Great Barrier Reef marathon Festival Por Douglas raise funds for Great Barrier Reef presevation projects.

Example of one of the projects which are supported by "Run for the Reef" is the Minke Whale Project 2015

The Marathon Festival will feature 5 events: 74km JCU Ultra Marathon, 42.195km Steve Moneghetti Marathon, 21.2km Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Half Marathon, 10km NewsPort Daily and the 5km Bendigo Bank 5000.

The tropical setting of Port Douglas offers the most picturesque of courses which will include the prestine Four Mile Beach, the Mowbray Valley, rugged rainforest of the Bump Track and into Black Moutain and the Kuranda National Parks.

Run for the Reef Events

The Great Barrier Reef Marathon Festival features 5 events plus one junior event on Sunday 01 November 2015. From the Ultra Marathon to the 5km there will be a run for everyone! Port Douglas will be a great place to do your PB or just cheer the competitors at the finishing line.
