Cape Tribulation
Recognised as one of the oldest rainforests on the planet the Daintree and Cape Tribulation region was saved from total destruction of bulldozers in 1983 by protestors occupying the trees. The region was finally given a World Heritage listing in 1988 after the government finally realised the value of such a natural asset to not only tourism but also to the highly endangered wildlife that it supports.
