The gastronomic smells waft along with the fresh breezes up and down the streets of Port Douglas every evening drawing in the visitors to the enchanting flavours and smells of each and every restaurant. The Sunday Markets in Port Douglas are a must do on every tourists list of things to do and see when visiting Port Douglas. These markets are what you call Cotters Markets and each product or ware that is for sale is to be a locally hand crafted or locally grown goods. Children love these markets and there is face painting, hair braiding frozen mango slushies, sugar cane juice and much more for everyone else to enjoy also.
When on holidays you can always seem to fit some time in for a little retail therapy in between all the other exciting tours and attractions of Port Douglas and Macrossan Street is the shopping mecca of this quaint little village. Nowadays you will find clothing chain stores like Rivers, Target Country, and Lorna Jane mixed in amongst the small boutiques and there are art galleries, jewellery stores, souvenir shops, gift shops, children’s clothing and gifts shops and so much more to satisfy those men and women that just love to shop.
The Port Douglas Yacht Club is an integral part of the Port Douglas entertainment, dining and sailing scene. Not only is the club one of the most scenically placed venues in Port Douglas, but also is a second home to many of the ‘yachties’ that live and sail from the Reef Marina and the Dickson inlet. Through their events they integrate their members with the public and foster a friendly association with everyone through their social gatherings on the sea and on the land.
